TP October 2008 Editor’s Note

Off to School

Every parent wants the best for their child and these days, that often means sending him or her to the best preschool they can afford. Before doing that, you may want to find out if your child is ready to be immersed in a preschool environment. Each child develops at his or her own pace but parents can do their bit to prepare their little one. Find out more in Is Your Child Ready for Preschool? The development of language is an amazing phenomenon. The Bilingual Edge explains just how language develops and the optimal conditions to help your child acquire more than one language.
All this and more awaits in our Preschool Special.

New mothers tend to be oblivious to the rest of the world as they become engrossed with nurturing their infant. The Making of Love is a reminder to mums to appreciate your other half who makes it possible for you to do so. Thoughts for Food is a hilarious account of cajoling a toddler to eat his veggies, a scenario most parents would have no trouble identifying with. Those of you who are planning to put off having your second child until later or have friends in their late 30s or early 40s wanting to have a child should not miss Protect Your Fertility. While we are not advocating that you ignore medical research on the subject, you may find it heartening to know that lifestyle choices matter as well.

Happy reading!
